The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui

By Bertolt Brecht

Design Statement

“Everyone can be treacherous when it suits their desires, and treachery only grows due to inaction”.  - Todd McNerney

The Resistible Rise of Arturo explores the satirical rise of corruption within 1930's Chicago. Looking to lean into the Brechtian

style, I found myself being drawn to abstract

shapes and lines found within urban skylines

for the main platforming structure.

We also never wanted the audience to

forget they were in fact watching actors in a

play perform these outrageous scenes. To do this, I worked with the team to highlight the natural architecture of the theatre and build it into our gritty mob boss world.
